The District Court of Hargeisa this morning sentenced poet Abdirahman Aden Ibraahin (Abees) to one year and six months in prison, who was arrested yesterday in Hargeisa as his brother confirmed to Galaydh Media.
The poet was arrested yesterday after his father accused him of being a bad parent, saying that the government had nothing to do with his arrest, but he himself demanded that his son be arrested so that he could be rehabilitated.
The poet’s mother, who also spoke to MMTV, denied the accusations made by the poet’s father, saying that the government is behind the arrest of her son, but the father intervened and wanted to humiliate her son, who is against Bihi’s rule.
The poet has been an opponent of President Bihi’s government for a long time, and on the 2nd of this month he published a book called “Mayal” in which he criticizes the government and the president.
This book, which came out years ago, was banned by the government, but it was recently re-authorized, and the government officials did not attend the book presentation at all, only the opposition was there.
So, this judgment is quick and unexpected at this time, since most of the defendants’ cases take weeks or months, and the investigation is long.
