The Deputy Attorney General of Somalia, Yusra Osman Sharif, who spoke to the media in Mogadishu, said that crimes and abuses against children are increasing throughout the country.
Yusra Osman said that they are particularly aware of the problems of children being abused, and that the Office has done a lot on these issues.
Deputy National Prosecutor Yusra Osman also mentioned that they have recorded in the last year of 2023 cases of 53 children who were hidden in some of the hospitals and streets of Mogadishu.
“In the year 2023, there were 53 children who were found, some of them were abandoned in hospitals, some were given to people who were hidden from them and others were found on the streets. 25 of those children were girls and the rest were boys. Their officials were assigned to people who were legally transferred to the office, and they were assisted by the police,” said Yusra Osman Sharif.
This statement by the Deputy Attorney General of Somalia comes at the same time, as in the past few days in Mogadishu and other parts of the country there have been more and more tragic events happening among some Somali families.
