The government of Somaliland said that the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia has created a lot of noise in the region and angered the government of Somalia.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Somaliland, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, speaking at the Thursday meeting of the cabinet, said that the agreement caused a lot of noise.
“The president’s agreement with Ethiopia has caused a lot of noise and emotions all over the world, and the government of Somalia has gone crazy,” said Minister Kahin.
He said that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud initially urged people to save the Somali sea, but later he told Aljazeera that he does not object to Ethiopia getting a sea, but he only wants the Somali government to pass through.
“He told Aljazeera TV that he does not object to Ethiopia getting a waterway, but they object to the way that Ethiopia went in search of the sea,” said Minister Kahin.
