The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, traveled to Italy today to attend the Italy-Africa Summit that will be held on the 28th and 29th of January.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the strategic plan of Italy which aims to review the approach of the country to the African continent.
Italy will take over the leadership of the Group of Seven (G7) this year in 2024 and has promised to make Africa a benchmark during its leadership.
“If we want to work on a strategy that brings together the interests of Africa and Europe, one example is energy, because Africa is a major producer of energy and Europe has a problem of energy supply,” said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloniini. during a press conference calling for investment in Africa.
The meeting between Italy and Africa will focus on the energy cooperation plan that Italy wants to present to African countries, including Somalia.
