The Secretary General of the United Nations has announced the appointment of Raisedon Zenenga from Zimbabwe as his new Deputy Special Envoy to the United Nations Office in Somalia.

According to a statement issued by the United Nations, Zenenga will replace Ghanaian Anita Kiki Gbeho, who was thanked by the Secretary General for her work in Somalia.

The Deputy UN Special Envoy for Somalia is currently the UN Assistant Secretary-General and Coordinator of the UN Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) since 2020.

He previously held the positions of Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Somalia and Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

Mr. Zenenga has experience in mediation, managing peace operations, and working with governments and other stakeholders in conflict zones.
