The House of Representatives of Somaliland called the election law of Act No. 91 as a violation of the law and the President sent it back to the Senate.
The House of Representatives said that the President’s decision to reinstate the law is inconsistent with Somaliland’s Constitution, according to a statement issued by the House of Representatives.
“We hereby confirm that the text of the above-mentioned regulations that the President of JSL submitted to the Senate is inconsistent with Article 78/3, which states that the President can only return a law to the House of Representatives”.
The Waddani party strongly opposed yesterday the president’s decision to return the law to the Senate, on the other hand, the UCID party called for the legislative councils to agree to the law.
“Let the hateful statements that are being made in the media be stopped, let the two presidents of the two houses sit on the road, and then let’s review the parts of the law, and let a copy of it be issued” UCID Chairman Faysal Ali Warabe said. ordered.
The president sent the bill back to the Senate after the Senate and representatives differed on some of the provisions.
