The government of Somalia rejected a request from the government of Ethiopia that the two countries meet and discuss how to end the tension between them.

According to the sources of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed wants to meet with the President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh, so that the two leaders can reach an understanding on the political crisis caused by the agreement that Ethiopia signed with Somaliland.

Information also from the presidency of Somalia, says that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has rejected the request received from the office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has asked President Hassan Sheikh to enter into talks with him, but the Somali president has made it a condition that Ethiopia withdraws from the agreement with Somaliland before he can hold any talks.

Ethiopia, which has already refrained from participating in the IGAD meeting in Kampala, is facing international pressure from the international community, which opposed the agreement it signed with Somaliland.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is today participating in an international conference in Kampa, where the meeting of the IGAD regional organization was concluded yesterday.
