At least 3 people died and two people were injured in a suicide bombing that took place today at the Alhindi restaurant in Hamarweyne district.
A news release from the police said that a suicide bomber who was being chased by government security forces blew himself up in front of the AlHindi restaurant.
The police said that an investigation is underway at the scene and full details will be released soon.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they targeted a place where security officers and members of government ministry staff were.
An explosion like this happened in this restaurant in 2016, killing 5 people, after a car filled with explosives was targeted.
Alhindi is a famous restaurant in Hamar Wayne district, where people gather, and many times government soldiers go there.
