The Ethiopian government has confirmed the news of Somaliland’s identity for the first time, as broadcasted on the BBC Nesws Ahmaric website.
Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Mesganu Arga said that his government will give full recognition to Somaliland, and recognition is one of the points agreed by both sides.
Arga said that the first step that Ethiopia is taking is the recognition of Somaliland, in order to have a sea that it can use.
The government of Somalia strongly opposed the agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia, calling its ambassador to Addis Ababa, on the other hand, the European Union condemned the agreement.
Somaliland, for its part, said that the agreement is being finalized, and that the Somali government has nothing to do with it.
