Members of the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia will hold an emergency meeting today Tuesday at Villa Hargeisa in Mogadishu.
This emergency meeting will also be attended by the President of the Federal Government, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who will address the members of both Houses.
The MPs were sent a message last night informing them to attend the urgent meeting where President Hassan Sheikh will make a critical speech.
In this session, President Hassan Sheikh will discuss the agreement concerning the sovereignty of Somalia, which was reached yesterday in Addis Ababa by the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed.
President Muse Bihi has signed for the Ethiopian government to give and use parts of Somalia’s water, while the Prime Minister of Ethiopia has promised Somaliland that they will recognize it as a government.
The agreement was greatly criticized by the politicians and former leaders of the country, who described the agreement as a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty, and it is necessary for the Federal Government to take immediate action in this matter.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Somalia is also holding an emergency meeting today regarding the agreement reached by Muse Bihi and Abiy Ahmed, and the Somali people are talking about it.
