The President of the South West Abdicasis Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen) said that his government supports the completion of the Somali Constitution and the implementation of the Baidoa Agreement reached by the National Consultative Assembly on May 27, 2023.

The President, who was speaking at a meeting between the members of the Federal Parliament from the South West and the members of the Parliament of his administration, reiterated that his government strongly supports the change in the country’s electoral process.

“We came here to discuss the process of building a government in Somalia and the political situation in the country, especially the completion of our constitution and the changes to be made in the electoral system,” said President Laftagareen.

We added, “It is a collective responsibility and a national duty to work on the completion of the constitution. It is the duty of the people, the government and the Somali parliament. So, we are talking about if we are the leaders of this region to consult together on political changes such as the electoral system, and at the same time we make united decisions that are in the interest of our people and our nation.”

President Laftagareen also spoke about the second phase of the war against Al-Shabaab, which was stopped by the floods.

He stressed the need for urgent humanitarian aid to reach the people in the region affected by the floods.
