This drone attack killed five civilians and three Al-Shabaab leaders, according to local leaders.

The attack took place after Al-Shabaab leaders took shelter in a house with family members located in the area of ​​Eel Lala in Galgaduud region.

The African command of the United States forces in Africa, AFRICOM, unfortunately stated that civilians were killed and injured in a bombing operation in the Galgaduud region, which targeted al-Shabaab leaders.

“Unfortunately, civilians were injured and killed in the vicinity of the operation,” AFRICOM said in a statement. “The US forces were not present at the site of the operation, and they did not carry out airstrikes.

The house where the leaders were targeted belonged to one of the leaders’ relatives, according to the Reuters news agency, Farah Adan, the governor of Eel district.

A woman and two children were among those who died in the bombing, as reported by the Reuters news agency citing local authorities.

“Civilians were not targeted, they were hit by bomb blasts.” said the governor of Eel area.

Various reports are coming out about this incident, as the Somali government media said that a woman and two children died in a mine hidden by Al-Shabaab in a house in the village of El-Lahelay in the Galgaduud region.
