The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has announced the general schedule for the election of the Galmudug House of Representatives leadership and the regional state’s executive leadership, with the elections planned to take place between October 13 and October 22, 2026.
According to the schedule released by the commission, the Galmudug House of Representatives will be announced on October 13, while October 14 and 15 are designated for preparations by the lawmakers. The swearing-in of the House of Representatives will take place on October 16.
Additionally, candidate applications for the leadership (Speaker and deputies) of the House of Representatives will be accepted on October 17, while October 18 is set aside for candidate speeches and the election of the parliamentary leadership.
Regarding the election of the Galmudug regional state leadership, the commission stated that applications from candidates vying for the positions of leader and deputy leader will be accepted on October 19 and 20.
Candidates will deliver their speeches on October 21, while the election of the Galmudug leader and deputy leader is scheduled for October 22. This schedule outlines the stages of the election for the leadership of the parliament and the Galmudug administration.
