Al-Shabaab attacked Nur Dugle area in the Middle Shabelle region.

Reports from the Middle Shabelle region say that members of the Al-Shabaab group launched a serious attack in Nur Dugle area early this morning.

The attack was said to have started with explosions, which the Al-Shabaab group carried out on positions of government forces and local residents in Nur Dugle area.

The fight that took place in Nur Dugle area was reported to be very intense and both sides used different types of weapons, which lasted for one hour.

It is not yet officially known the damage caused by the heavy fighting that took place in Nur Dugle area, but the local residents said that the attack caused death and injury to both sides and they cannot confirm the total amount.

Officials from the government forces who recently spoke to the national media said that the attack was defended by the government forces and the locals, adding that the forces are still looking for the Al-Shabaab members who carried out the attack.

This morning’s attack in Nur Dugle coincides with Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arriving in Adan Yabal district in the Middle Shabelle region yesterday to speed up the fight against al-Shabaab.
