Ms. Johansson replaces Ambassador Tiina Intelmann, who completed her two-year term in August.

Ms. Johansson is going to present her official identity papers to President Hassan Sheikh who is currently in Mahaas district of Hiraan region.

The president is leading the first phase of the military offensive to liberate Al-Shabaab from Hirshabelle and Galmudug areas.

The appointment of the new ambassador has come at a critical stage in which the Somali Government is strengthening national security, accelerating economic recovery, and strengthening government institutions.
