A press release from the Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia said that a military operation that took place yesterday in Dumaye area of Mudug region killed 167 Al-Shabaab members, including six leaders, and injured 87 other militants. .
This operation, which was carried out by the Federal Government and international friends, was targeted and destroyed in a place where it was indicated that the group used to prepare explosives and train its soldiers.
“This operation, which was carried out in cooperation with the National Army and the international friends who support the government and the people’s forces, targeted the center of the Khawarij on the outskirts of Dumaye, where it was the center where the Khawarij had already fallen from the local clerics and turned it into a training camp for their militias, to prepare for the explosions.
And it was the home of the leaders of the Khawarij militias. When the operation was taking place, there were three hundred militias in the area, and they were giving misleading statements to the leaders and those who misinterpreted the religion and called them preachers,” said the press release from the Ministry of Information. .
It was also reported in the newspaper that four vehicles were destroyed in the operation, including two BGs loaded with explosives.
“The government condemns that the Khawarij who are retaliating against the operation have killed civilians and kidnapped hundreds of people, which shows their actions outside the Islamic religion,” said the press release.
This news from the Somali News Agency comes at the same time that President Hassan Sheikh has recently arrived in Mahaas district of Hiran region to intensify the fight against the Al-Shabaab group.
