The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, who is in the town of Harar Dheere in the Mudug region, once again called on the members of the Al-Shabaab group to take advantage of the amnesty offered by President Hassan Sheikh to surrender.
Minister Fiqi also said that anyone who wants to take advantage of the opportunity of amnesty from the Shabaab group is welcome.
“I am telling the Khawarij groups to take advantage of the opportunity given to them and surrender to the government forces. Al-Shabaab’s time is over. I say to you, don’t let the loss of life increase and surrender, you have a chance,” said Minister Fiqi.
He also told the minister that anyone who belongs to the Al-Shabaab group who surrenders to the government will be subjected to the same procedure as the Al-Shabaab members who surrender to the government.
Ahmed Macalin Fiqi also strongly criticized groups that he said defend Al-Shabaab on social media and like Al-Shabaab, they write on Facebook and Twitter.
“The government will take action against those who defend the Khawarij on social media who spread their propaganda,” said Interior Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi.
The statement made by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Somalia coincides with the surrender of a leader of the group named Noor Abdullaho Maalinguur to the government forces in the Wisil area of Mudug region yesterday.
