Puntland said that it has nothing to do with the decision of the federal government, which banned the use of Tiktok, Telegram and 1XBET websites.
The Minister of Information of Puntland, Mohamud Ayidi Dirir said that the decisions of the federal government are decisions that do not apply to Puntland telecommunication companies.
“When the laws and politics are agreed upon, and the taxes of the country are unified, the federal government can give orders to the state-owned companies,” said the information minister of the Puntland administration.
The minister said that the companies operating in Puntland are taking orders from their authorities. He said that they are running the rules and politics of social media in Puntland. He said that it will be brought before the Parliament soon.
He said that when the law comes out, anyone who misuses social media or abuses it, will be held accountable. He said that no one can be punished without the law.
The federal government of Somalia has recently banned the use of three websites, whose ban will take effect tomorrow.
It is not known how this suspension will be implemented, as the telecommunications services are managed by private companies, some of which operate in areas not under the control of the Federal Government of Somalia.
