Somali forces have carried out operations in Gariley and Ali-yabaal areas of Galgaduud region, killing 5 members of the Al-Shabaab group.
According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Somalia Gen. Ali Aanood, this operation was followed after the army received information about Al-Shabaab gathering in a forest area where they were organizing attacks.
General Aanood also said that the al-Shabaab hiding in the forests of Jir-jir Hiirey between Ruun-nirgood and Ali Heelle in the Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions have been cleared.
The defense spokesman did not report any damage to government forces during the operation.
These operations come at a time when the government and regional forces are targeting the two districts of El-Bur and Galhareeri in the Galgaduud region which are still under the control of the Al-Shabaab group.
