Journalist Busharo Ali Banday, who was released yesterday by the Marodijex Regional Court in Somaliland, said that she was detained illegally for 3 months, and finally she got justice.

Bandai was released from prison yesterday after she was sentenced to 1 year in prison by the court, which resulted in 2 minor crimes.

“My detention was illegal. I believe that I was detained illegally for 3 months. Today I got justice and I am free, but if it took 3 months, I say justice that lasts is injustice,” Banday told Galaydh Media.

She said that she was accused of many crimes that she did not commit, including that she was involved in activities to destroy Somaliland, which she was later found guilty of.

On the other hand, she thanked all the people who worked hard for her release, including parliamentarians, some leaders of opposition parties and organizations, media, and international organizations.

The journalist, who was famous for criticizing the government of President Bihi, was arrested on May 25 in the border town of Wajale, when she came from the British Empire. She was in prison for more than 3 months, before she was sentenced yesterday.
