Colonel Jimaale Jama Takar, who identified himself as the commander of the independent army of the Danab commando, and who is at war with the Puntland president, Saeed Deni, presented a military parade on the outskirts of Garowe today.
This officer trained a group of militiamen who joined a few days after the war that took place last month in Garowe.
In his speech to the army, he said that he is against the opening of the constitution, saying that President Deni is a candidate and therefore has no right to shape the election and the opening of the constitution.
This official said that they will fight if there is an attempt to open the constitution.
“We have fought for the opening of Puntland’s constitution and we will not accept it. We will not accept what we fought for and rejected, but people who died for us”, said Jimale who gave a brief speech to his troops.
The military parade and the threatening statements come at a time when the Puntland parliament is scheduled to sit tomorrow and vote on the amendments to the constitution.
This also comes at a time when the Puntland state is working to resolve the dispute over the election issues.
