The security forces of the Puntland administration today refused to allow the Somali president’s envoy in charge of economic and commercial affairs to fly to Garowe airport.

Envoy was on his way to Mogadishu.

The authorities of Garowe airport were informed that Khadar Abdirahman Faroole, who was one of the four members who were recently issued an arrest warrant, could not leave the airport, although their warrant was later revoked.

It is not known the purpose of holding the envoy, however, information we have received from informed sources says that he is being held because of the violence that happened at Garowe airport.

After Puntand forces and anti-election militiamen shot each other near the airport, where two soldiers of the security forces died.

His arrest is alleged to be based on an order issued by the presidency of Puntland. The Presidency believes that Khadar Faroole is the person behind the disruption of the Garowe local council elections.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Puntland, Abdifarah Saeed Juha, has recently accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of acting as his representative, in order to disrupt the election of people and votes in Puntland.
