The President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Esaba Kőrösi, strongly condemned yesterday’s attack by the Al-Shabaab group on the ATMIS military base in the Bula Marer district of the Lower Shabelle region.
Governor Csaba Kőrösi first expressed his condolences to the governments of Somalia and Uganda to those who died in the attack, mostly soldiers of the African Union ATMIS, especially those in Uganda.
He also pointed out to the Chairman of the General Assembly that the Al-Shabaab attack shows that there is still a threat from the Al-Shabaab group, which has been fighting with the Somali government for a long time.
“Terrorism in all its forms and manifestations represents a great threat to international peace and security,” said President Csaba Kőrrcrös.
The President of the United Nations General Assembly also said that there is a need to bring justice to the groups behind the attack that took place yesterday at the Bula Mareer District Station in the Lower Shabelle region.
The attack carried out by Al-Shabaab early in the morning on the Bula Marer base of the ATMIS army started with explosions and was followed by direct fighting. Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed 137 soldiers. Al-Shabaab attacked.
