The Minister of Internal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, has revealed that the Al-Shabaab group has been an obstacle for the country to hold elections in person and vote.
Minister Fiqi said that there are millions of people living in the areas controlled by the group and it is not possible for them to participate in the election of people and votes in the country, and that is one of the obstacles to holding elections of people and votes.
“There are millions of people living in the land controlled by Al-Shabaab and they have no evidence. When those people are left and those who are in the government areas only vote, it is not possible and even those people are threatened with death by Al-Shabaab who want to participate in the elections, such as “They have already killed people who took part in the recent public elections, including delegates and elders,” said Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi.
He also said that the Minister of Internal Affairs of Somalia that the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is running a plan to defeat and eliminate the Al-Shabaab group, and to implement elections in the country by people and votes.
The statement made by Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi comes at the same time that the Federal Government of Somalia is organizing and preparing for the second phase of operations against Al-Shabaab, which will start in Jubbaland and South West regions where they are still strong.
