The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who gave an interview to Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath, said that Somalia does not intend to go to war with Ethiopia, but will not hesitate to defend its country if necessary.

“We have no plan or intention to go to war with Ethiopia at the moment, but if something changes, we have to react then,” said the president, adding that the MoU signed by Ethiopia with Somaliland is a violation of international law and order.

President Hassan Sheikh also called for a joint strategy with Egypt to face the common threat.

When he spoke about the war against terrorism, the president said that the Al-Shabaab group is attracting the Somali youth to the anger of the agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.

“We do not want to focus on war, but Al-Shabaab militias are taking advantage of the agreement between Ethiopia and Muse Bihi, to attract the youth and join the extremists, using the pretext that infidels have invaded the land.

The president also warned that Ethiopia is not only invading Somalia’s sea, but it is also invading its land. The president described it as something that will never happen.
