With the tension in the Horn of Africa intensifying, Ethiopia has criticized the international community’s reaction to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it recently entered into with Somaliland.

Redwan Hussien, the National Security Adviser to the Ethiopian Prime Minister, accused unnamed international actors of being enemies of Ethiopia under the guise of supporting Somalia.

“In spite of this fact, some actors who did not support Somalia much in times of need are trying to show themselves as true friends, but it is clear that what motivates them is not Somalia, but their hostility towards Ethiopia. “said Redwan Hussien.

This statement coincides with the growing international criticism of the consensus agreement, which allowed Ethiopia to get 20 km of Somaliland’s coast.

Last week, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Demeke Mekonnen confirmed that his administration is facing international pressure to cancel the agreement with Somaliland.

Ethiopia has also rejected the Arab League’s demand that Ethiopia cancel the agreement with Somaliland.
