With only one day left until the time announced for the meeting of the leaders of the IGAD countries in Uganda, the Ethiopian government has apologized for participating in the meeting.

This meeting, which was recently announced by the President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, is one of the controversial agreements reached at the beginning of this month in Addis Ababa between the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, and the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia has sent a letter to IGAD to refrain from participating in the meeting, saying that they are busy with other activities and will postpone the meeting.

This news from the Ethiopian government comes at the same time as Ethiopia is facing a diplomatic crisis that forces it to hide from the regional and international arenas, after the recent agreement with Somaliland to get 20 KM of Somali water.
