The Ethiopian government has confirmed that Addis Ababa is facing international pressure to cancel the agreement it signed with Somaliland.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen, said that despite the international pressure, he reiterated that Ethiopia will continue to implement the agreement with Somaliland.
Similarly, Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde also confirmed that the European Union, the United States, Britain, China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other countries supported the territorial unity of Somalia.
The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, recently issued a serious warning about the agreement, and threatened that Somalia will defend its sea with everything they can find.
He urged the Somali people to unite in order to prevent the open invasion of Somalia, and warned Ethiopia to escalate the situation to armed conflict.
