Around 10 people were killed and many more were injured in a clash this morning between tribal militia forces in Maraaga area, which is about 7km east of Lascaanod town.
The dead and injured included the warring parties, and several other people who wanted to intervene between the two warring forces.
This conflict arose after the two forces claimed possession of a car with a gun, which is one of the weapons of the Somaliland army that was released during the war in Gojacadde.
The dead and injured have been taken to Garowe and Lasaanod hospitals, and the situation at the scene of the war is now stable, as the firing has been successfully stopped.
However, the Somaliland military forces were expelled from the Sool region, resulting in many weapons falling into the hands of militias from the communities that fought there.
It is not the first time that militia forces have clashed with captured weapons. There are many similar cases in SSC-Khatumo, which need to be resolved.
