Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
A senior delegation from the Egyptian government, who visited Mogadishu on the 7th of this month, brought the president of Somalia an invitation from the president of Egypt.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will arrive in Egypt in the coming days where he will hold a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, focusing on strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
The Presidency of Somalia has declared that the two countries will discuss the situation in the region that has been renewed in relation to Ethiopia’s desire for the Somali Sea.
Egypt is at the forefront of the countries that have greatly opposed the desire of Ethiopia to seek a part of the land and sea of Somalia, while the Egyptian government insisted that it is necessary to protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Somalia.
Egypt is also at odds with Ethiopia over the Nile River, after the Ethiopian government built a large dam on the Nile River, which Egypt sees as a dangerous step for the future of Nile River water.
