MP Mohamed Mohamud (Mohamed Yare), a member of the Galmudug Parliament and Abdullahi Ibrahim, a member of the local council of the Galmudug capital of Dhusamareb, were killed in an explosion in Eel-garas area of Galgaduud.
The two MPs have recently been part of the conflict group to liberate Al-Shabaab from Galgaduud areas, and they have been with the Somali army.
The Galmudug administration said that these MPs died while on duty to liberate their areas. The administration said their deaths led to the liberation of the strategic town of El Garas.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense of Somalia has confirmed that the Armed Forces, which are supported by the local people, have completely taken control of Eel Garas area in Galgaduud Region.
The government and local forces are carrying out cleaning operations around the city, and it is said that the Al-Shabaab group fled when the forces surrounded the sides.
The Ministry of Defense said that the capture of El Garas is a symbol of the great victory achieved in the war against Al-Shabaab.
