The Al-Shabaab group set fire to several villages in the Lower Shabelle region, according to Somali government officials.
The Minister of Health of Somalia, Ali Haji Jama, who spoke about this issue, condemned this incident, describing it as a barbaric act of Al-Shabaab fighting against the basic life of the people.
The Minister of Health said that the villages burned by Al-Shabaab are: Daban, Guudweyn, Madham-Maroodi, El-Baraf, Laamiloxshile, Showli-mareer, and Showli-afweyne in Leego, Yaqbiriweyne, and Goobaanle in Lower Shabelle Region.
“These kinds of actions that the terrorists have made a habit of spilling the blood of the people, destroying their houses and their property proves how necessary it is for the people living in those areas to take up arms and free themselves from the enemy who did not allow any life at all,” said the minister.
Ali Haji Jama warned the people from the affected areas to stand up against the Al-Shabaab group which he said are used to harassing the people.
