The government of Somalia has expressed its condolences for the disaster caused by the earthquake in Morocco, which measured 7.2 Richter.
Last night in the regions and administrations of Al Haouz, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Azilal and Chichaoua, and Taroudant in Morroco, he hit the ground and killed more than 800 people, while a smaller number were injured. Also, people are still missing under the destroyed buildings.
“The Federal Republic of Somalia shows that it fully supports the government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco.” said in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia.
This earthquake is one of the most destructive to occur in the country in more than sixty years. Most of the world’s countries have sent different messages of mourning to the Moroccan government.
The 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit the Atlas Mountains in Morocco late Friday night. The Ministry of Interior said that the death toll of 820 people was the last number recorded. said that 672 were injured.
A government official said most of the deaths occurred in the hard-to-reach mountains.
