The Minister of Transport and Aviation of Somalia, Fardowsa Osman Igal, together with the Director of the Civil Aviation Organization, Ahmed Macallin Hassan, met in Nairobi with the President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Salvatore Sciacchitano, and the Secretary General of ICAO, Juan Carlos Salaza. and Director of the ICAO Development and Implementation Office, Jorge Vargas.
The bilateral dialogue focused on the development projects of the Somali Civil Aviation, technical achievements and general cooperation.
The manager of the Civil Aviation Authority, Ahmed Macallin Hassan presented a report at the meeting related to the achievements of the government in the management and monitoring of the air and how it is committed to strengthen this.
The President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Salvatore Sciacchitano, on his part, highlighted the achievements, he clearly said that they see Somalia as an example of rapid progress in the civil aviation process.
Salvatore Sciacchitano extended his long relationship with Somalia since the colonial period, stating that ICAO is doubling its support and cooperation with Somalia.
“Somalia has been registered to us as an example of the world’s rapid development of the Civil Aviation system.” said the President of the ICAO Council and added, “We want the ICAO Council election in 2025 to attend Somalia so that we can present it to the world as it has passed the audit.”
The Minister of Transport and Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Fardowsa Osman Igaal thanked the senior leadership of ICAO for the efforts and support they have given to Somalia in achieving the progressive change, assuring that they will make an effort to complete the audit, how Somalia would progress and the development of priority areas.
