The Auditor General of the nation, Ahmed Isse Gutale, gave more details about an investigation that he said he conducted in his office on some of Somalia’s embassies abroad.
The auditor said that the investigation was carried out in the embassies of Turkey, Kenya and Germany and indicated that the funds seized by the embassies were not managed as intended and were not disclosed in the government’s financial report.
“Income of 1.9 million seized by institutions such as the Somali embassy in Kenya, Turkey and the German embassy was not managed well and was not included in the government’s financial report. Looking at the errors of the institutions concerned, there is a flawed idea. provided the financial audit or audit report for the year 2022 that was submitted to the national auditor general office” said Ahmed Isse Gutale.
The National Auditor has also underlined that the total amount of money owed by the Somali embassies in Kenya, Turkey and the Journal is 3 million US dollars, and he noted that it has not been transferred to the central treasury of the government.
“The revenue collected by the investigated embassies totaling three million dollars was not deposited into the central treasury of the government, while some of the revenue was captured in white or cash, which eliminates transparency and accountability,” said the Auditor General. of the nation of Ahmed Isse Gutale.
