Somaliland’s opposition in Wadani has opposed the decision of the discussion committee to schedule the elections for the unions and the presidency.
The General Secretary of Khadar Hussein Abdi, who spoke to the media, said that the decision of the committee will hurt Somaliland.
“Somaliland is in a very difficult phase, and the decision they make is one that can cause damage to Somaliland, so the party is carefully considering the decision to take,” said Ambassador Khadar.
He said that the party will consult with its supporters, social organizations and those concerned and the party’s candidate will announce the party’s official decision on the committee’s decision.
The decision of the election committee was against the will of the opposition parties that the presidential election should come forward, on the other hand the new political organizations welcomed the decision of the committee.
On the other hand, the Somaliland opposition party, UCID, has completely opposed the decision of the election commission to hold the presidential and union elections.
In a press release issued by the UCID party, it was stated that the decision of the election committee was illegal and we will not accept it in any way.
“The executive committee of the UCID party has decided that the decision of the Muse Bihi wing of the National Electoral Commission dated 17/7/2023 cannot be accepted as an illegal decision that has nothing to do with it,” he said. said in the press release.
The party said that the committee ignored the legal election of the president, and announced an election without the rules to enter, as the party’s document stated.
