The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, arrived on Saturday in the city of Jeddah, in the western part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to begin an official visit.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Hamza Abdi Barre landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, where he was welcomed by the Governor of Jeddah, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, along with other Saudi officials.
This visit comes at a time when diplomatic relations between Somalia and Saudi Arabia are strengthening; the two nations have recently held discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the political, security, development, and economic spheres. The two sides are also collaborating on matters of regional and international interest.
The Somali Embassy in Riyadh indicated that the Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia includes the performance of Umrah.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has visited Jeddah on several previous occasions—most recently in March 2026, according to official information previously released by Saudi authorities. So far, details regarding the meetings the Prime Minister will hold with Saudi officials, as well as the duration of his visit, have not been disclosed.
