The Chairman of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur announced that the proposal related to the accountability of the Minister of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation, Ali Hoosh, has been canceled.
The chairman said that the decision to reject the proposal was made after checking the signatures of the MPs attached to the proposal, while some of the MPs whose names and signatures were mentioned said that they were not part of the proposal.
The chairman said that Article 75 of the By-laws of the House of Peoples states that such a proposal must be in writing and signed by the number of MPs stipulated by the law, and the Chairman of the House has the right to return a proposal that is not in accordance with the by-laws.
“When he checked the procedures and the validity of the signatures attached to the proposal, when it became clear to him that some of the parliamentarians whose names and signatures were stated that they were not part of the proposal, he decided to withdraw the proposal,” said the Chairman.
However, he clarified that this decision does not limit the constitutional right of the parliamentarians to submit a new proposal on the accountability of the Government, if it is consistent with the Constitution and the Bylaws of the House of People.
