Ahmed Ali Cigaal was one of the main pillars of Somali art, especially in the field of singing, composing and playing music. During his career, he played a prominent role in the development of Somali literature, composing music for hundreds of songs performed by the most famous artists, while others he sang himself.
The deceased was born in the late 1940s in the town of Wardheer, Doollo region. In the early 1960s, he moved to Mogadishu, where he began his education and made it a base for his artistic journey.
His artistic journey officially began in 1964, when his first song, titled “Bari iyo Galbeed, Keebaa na baanay?”, was broadcast on Radio Mogadishu. The song was widely received, and it paved the way for him to become one of the most popular Somali singers.
