The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission (INCB) has announced the postponement of the local and representative council elections in Galmudug State, issuing a new schedule for the elections.
A press release issued by the commission stated that the decision to postpone was made after assessing the level of preparation for the electoral process, and considering requests submitted by political parties to be given additional time to complete their preparations.
According to the new schedule, the processing of candidate applications will continue until 25 July 2026, while the elections are set to be held on 30 July 2026.
The commission called on all political parties and stakeholders in the electoral process to take advantage of the extended period to ensure free, fair and lawful elections.
The press release also stressed that the committee will continue to work with various stakeholders to complete preparations and ensure the holding of the Galmudug elections.
