Kenyan counter-terrorism forces say they have killed 11 Al-Shabaab militants following an intelligence-led operation on a compound near the Kenya-Somali border.
A statement by Kenyan security officials said the operation, carried out by special forces backed by aircraft, targeted about 30 fighters who were said to be planning an attack in Mandera county.
Kenyan officials said 11 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in the operation, while seven others were seriously injured.
They also said the troops seized three PKM rifles and 409 rounds of ammunition.
The statement added that the fighters who survived the operation retreated to Somalia.
