Iran has launched missile and drone attacks on several Gulf Arab states, after the US carried out a second night of airstrikes inside Iran.

According to Al Jazeera, the warning signals of the strikes were heard in Bahrain, while the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense said its air defenses had intercepted missiles and drones fired by Iran.

Meanwhile, explosions were heard in cities along the strategic Strait of Hormuz, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask and the island of Abu Musa. Reports also said at least one person was killed in an attack in the city of Iranshahr.

US President Donald Trump said the new strikes were “retaliation” for attacks he accused Iran of carrying out on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who was recently assassinated, is set to be buried today in his hometown of Mashhad, after millions of people attended mourning ceremonies and preliminary funerals in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala.
