Reports from the Shebaab area of Bari region indicate that ISIS has destroyed a communications tower owned by the Golis company in a mortar attack.
According to local sources, the tower was the main communications hub for the areas of Dhasan, Shebaab, Dhaadaar, Gaatir Oodan, Qurac and the surrounding countryside from Buqo-Aleed to Miraale, and its destruction caused a disruption in communication services in those areas.
Local authorities said that this is the second time that the tower has been destroyed this year. In March 2026, the center was also attacked, with that attack blamed on ISIS.
Also, on April 24, 2026, while the Golis company was renovating the tower, an explosion occurred at the site, killing two of the company’s employees and three soldiers who were providing security for the operation.
Puntland security forces have not yet issued an official statement about the attack. However, local officials we contacted confirmed that the communications center suffered extensive damage.
