Puntland has issued new security directives, which include measures to control the activities of armed politicians, military spending, political meetings and actions that threaten Puntland’s security.

A press release from the Puntland Ministry of Security said that these decisions were the result of a meeting held by the security committee and other ministries concerned with security matters.

The decisions issued include a strict crackdown on vehicles used by illegal militias, stating that anyone found with weapons or illegal vehicles will face legal action.

Puntland has also banned meetings organized by groups described as militias or illegal organizations within its territories, and has issued a warning to anyone who participates in or hosts such meetings.

The statement also said that officials in the federal government of Somalia who are accused of working in organizations against Puntland will not be allowed to freely reside in Puntland areas.

Puntland also said that actions that disrupt security and stability have been banned, with security forces ordered to take action against anyone suspected of inciting violence or unrest.

Meanwhile, the Puntland administration warned the Federal Government of Somalia to stop what it described as interference in Puntland’s internal affairs, especially supporting or facilitating armed activities in the areas of the administration.

This statement comes at a time of political disputes and security tensions in parts of Puntland, which are related to political rivalry and disputes between Puntland and the federal government
