The Northeastern Council of Ministers and the Sool regional administration said the situation in Adhi-Addeeye district is stable, after more than 20 people who lost their lives in a clan war that broke out in the area yesterday were buried there today.
Officials said that the administration forces have fully taken over the security of the city, and that armed militias will not be allowed to enter.
“The situation in Adhi-Addeeye town is normal, and it is under the control of government officials. We hope that the fighting will stop there and the city will return to normal. There is a government decision that armed militias will not be allowed to enter the city, the clan militias have been removed, and government forces have taken over security,” the officials said.
Meanwhile, local elders sent a message of peace to the two warring clans, describing them as “two brotherly clans” and sent condolences to the families and relatives of those who died in the war.
“We offer our condolences to both sides for the victims of the fighting, and we call on them to resolve the conflict through dialogue and peace. We also call on both sides to exercise restraint and not escalate the conflict,” the elders said.
The inter-communal conflict has caused significant loss of life and property, while efforts to stabilize the situation and end the conflict are still ongoing in the Adhi-Addeeye district of Sool region.
