The Supreme Court of the Federal Republic of Somalia has officially ratified the results of the South West State (SWS) House of Representatives elections, after a series of hearings examining the complaints and electoral process.

The decision comes amid rising political tensions in the country, particularly over the electoral process and differences of opinion between electoral bodies and political parties.

The court said it had considered complaints related to the electoral process, written submissions and complaints, and reports submitted by the Electoral Commission. It then ruled that the results of the South West State elections were in accordance with the country’s laws and deserved to be officially recognized.

According to the document issued by the Court, all the information submitted by the Electoral Commission was confirmed, such as that 132,430 voters participated in the South West election, and the number of votes that were validated was 128,276, and the number of rejected votes due to spoilage was 4,154, while the total number of ballot boxes was 298.
