Israel killed a Lebanese journalist, Amal Khalil, and wounded another, Zeinab Faraj, despite a ceasefire agreement between the two sides, Lebanese officials said.
The Lebanese government strongly condemned the attack, accusing Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire, carrying out airstrikes and destroying civilian homes.
Meanwhile, talks between Iran and the United States have stalled, with Iranian officials accusing Washington of obstructing the talks after imposing a naval blockade on the country’s ports.
Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, said his country still wanted “dialogue and agreement,” but noted that “sanctions and threats” were hindering progress in the talks.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also said they had seized two foreign ships in the Strait of Hormuz and opened fire on another ship that was accused of violating maritime laws.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said there was no official timeline set by US President Donald Trump for a ceasefire with Iran, noting that the final decision was his.
The escalating tensions come as Lebanese civilians are returning to their homes, particularly in southern Beirut, despite widespread damage there.
