Jubbaland Darawiish forces operating in Afmadow district have carried out a planned operation targeting areas north of the city, where they arrested an Al-Shabaab member hiding in the forest.
The operation came after the forces received information about the activities of Al-Shabaab members in rural areas under Afmadow.
The forces pursued the members to their hiding places early Friday morning.
The officers leading the operation said that the forces conducted extensive searches to ensure the security of all the targeted areas, to prevent possible security threats from the group.
During the operation, Jubbaland forces captured Ali Macalin Ali Nur, a member of Al-Shabaab, known by the nickname “Musamil”. Reports indicate that the man had been a member of the group for four years.
Security officials said that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure security in Afmadow district and surrounding areas, while intensifying the fight against groups that cause insecurity.
