The League of Arab States welcomes the ratification of the Somali Constitution by the Somali Parliament and its entry into force
A statement issued by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that this step is a historic step towards completing the establishment of the institutions of the Somali state.
Aboul Gheit said that this decision is an important one in strengthening the country’s constitutional system, which is based on the rule of law, the separation of powers, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, and the realization of the national unity of the country.
According to the Spokesperson of the Secretary-General, Gamal Roshdy, the ratification of the constitution reflects a national process and ongoing efforts to strengthen political stability, unity, good governance, and sustainable development.
The League of Arab States said that it will continue its support and cooperation with the Government and Parliament of Somalia, especially in the areas of security and stability, strengthening democracy, and preserving national unity.
