The Prime Minister of the Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, today officially inaugurated the National Cyber Security Center, which was established to respond to emergencies related to telecommunications security threats and cyber attacks.
The Prime Minister noted that the opening of this center is of great importance for national security, especially at a time when the world is heavily dependent on technology, and at the same time, there is an increase in acts of threat to the telecommunications system. This center will play a key role in preventing these threats and protecting the information of government agencies and the country as a whole.
Prime Minister Hamsa also described the center as an important achievement, as it will be responsible for coordinating and responding to cybersecurity incidents, as well as recording attacks against technology.
In addition, the Somali public will be educated about the threats that can arise from telecommunications and how to prevent them, in order to protect society from the dangers of the internet and cyber attacks.
The Prime Minister said that his government is pursuing plans to develop the country’s technology, and this step came after the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications proposed the establishment of key institutions in the communications system, including the National Communications Authority, which plays a key role in ensuring technological security and developing the country’s digital infrastructure.
This new center has been described as playing a major role in ensuring cyber security, protecting government data, and developing digital services in the country.
